What are the coaxial connections next to my TV?

I have a new tt so I am still learning about the trailer. Next to my TV is a small metal plate screwed into the cabinet with two coaxial connections. There is a short piece, about 3 inches, of what ...

I should also add, in case it helps, my tt only has a hook up for cable. I do not have a hook up for satellite.
