The hybrid in my sig is our second in over 13 years. The first we bought in '03 and owned for 10 years. Canvas was like new when we traded it, never did anything special to take care of it. Keep in mind that the bunk ends are vinyl covered, not just a canvas surface. What that means is that they dry quickly and if it's not raining when packing you just take a towel and dry them off. Very easy, and far easier to deal with than a pop-up or tent. And we've had both.
All that said a hybrid is not everyone's cup of tea. If you have tented and/or used a pop-up, then you will probably love a hybrid. If you are not used to tents/pop-ups, then a hybrid may not be for you.
I will say this about noise, it's only as noisy as where you choose to camp. If you are in a "party park" then you'll hate a hybrid. If you camp in places that enforce quiet hours (state parks, decent private parks) then noise is rarely an issue. In my experience if there are a lot travel trailers and motor homes, it tends to be a lot quieter than where you see a lot of pop-ups and tents.
Also, have never used the Pugs. We've camped in 100+, and at 28. Never felt uncomfortable. It's called being outdoors, and being that we tented for many years, it's just part of camping to us.
Bottom line from my perspective I don't see disadvantages to owning one. But this is why there are so many choices! Something for everyone!
