What are your high wind stories?
Given the morphing of the rollover story and the interest. I thought a high wind story thread might be fun. We've had some high wind in the area and while I've been camping.
According to the weather forecasters, my camper has tolerated 80+ sustained winds off the truck while in storage without any problems. All I do is lower the back about 1 foot or so off the ground when it is stored. The slides were in and the cover survived that time. The wood fences in the area didn't do as well. :) I'd say nearly have of the fences were blown down. It was great to drive to the storage lot load the camper and have power and heat while our power was out for a few days.
I've camped on the ocean at just over 50 gusts. On those nights, my prep was putting the jacks down and slides in. The dinette slide was on the wind side, so I thought down was better than adding additional lift. Again, the truck moved but we slept ok. We were at the space nearest the ocean with no protection from wind and survived with no issues.
I've driven in 30-40 winds. The interstate was not one consistent direction, so we were being hit from all angles. No, we seemed to be doing pretty well overall. No preparation in this case other than driving a bit slower than normal.
