May 2013, Mojave California, F150 and a hard side Camper, I was going west on 58 just had gone under the overpass where Randsburg cutoff road passes over 58 when out of no where the wind started blowing and howling like a demon, It broadsided us and almost flipped us over in the Highway. It was my first TC and first trip and I new absolutely zero about TC's. I think both wheels on the passenger side came off the road, I was only going 55 and was hardly any traffic. But I had no business with that camper on a 1/2 ton. I didn't even have E rated tires at that time and didn't know I was supposed too :B
I did have a lot of experience behind the wheel however from driving trucks and growing up on a farm. When the gust hit us I jerked the wheel and tapped the brakes and stayed under my load, I felt the passenger side come down hard. A few seconds later I left the highway and nosed her in to the wind and parked. I went outside and checked the straps that I had it cinched down with/ lol, yes big ratchet straps, But they actually did a great job. I took an oath that day I would buy another truck that could deal with the weight and be more stable, I went with a FL70:B
