Put them back on the ground!
Why do they need to be so darned high in the air? Almost need a ladder to get in!
Lower them, they do not need to be that far off the ground.
I've had many tall trucks, but as a new 5th wheel owner, I couldn't agree more. The new trucks are HUGE! I don't get it. And they still come with tires that are too narrow for any soft surface. I don't get it.
Since we're listing our wishes, I want a 7 or 8 speed manual transmission. There's absolutely no reason they can't install one. If I can buy a factory pickup truck with an exhaust brake, they sure as hell can put a good manual transmission behind their beast of an engine. - GordonThreeExplorerI've never seen a custom order truck offering incentives anywhere close to what's offered on dealer stock. Especially with mega dealers now that operate dozens of locations.
So I would argue that yes, technically you can order a strip down truck and pay nearly full price for it, or you can buy something with bells and whistles and negotiate down the price.
Even around here the snow plow work trucks have a lot of options, but there's tactics to get a better price on them. - ppineExplorer IIITrucks continue to get better. They are all pretty similar.
I agree that they are too fancy. No need for leather seats, back up cameras, MP3 gizmo video games. and a lot of other stuff. NO King Ranch, Eddie Bauer, Patauguchi crapola.
The market has attracted a lot of car people that want 4 doors and car like ammenities. They are willing to buy a truck with a 5 foot bed. This has created a lot of trucks that are not really suited for truck like work. - ExxWhyExplorerGadgets are "options" for a reason. If you don't want them, then don't add them. A person can buy a very capable truck for under 40K. Can also buy a luxury car built inside a truck for double the $$. I like options!
More power with gas engines, better efficiency, better reliability, better ride would be on my wish list. None of those things are horrible now, plus got my wish for the power. - KD4UPLExplorer II

Lower price, lower body and bed, less amenities, less gizmos, less plastics, less electronics.
This!!!
Trucks are way too high. It's hard to load stuff in the bed. It's hard to see in the top bins with a utility body on a work truck. FW trailers often need to be raised on their axles just to sit level. It's ridiculous.
If you put a modern day 1500 beside a 3500 from the 90s the 1500 will look huge.
I like trucks with vinyl seats, vinyl floors, manual transfer cases, and 8' beds. It's really hard to find them anymore. I've bought two new trucks in my life, both were 3500 4wd diesels. Both were in the mid $30,000 range. I just don't see how anyone could spend $70,000 for a truck. - LantleyNomad

Exactly! and raise prices higher while they are at it.
