This question deserves a longer response that I can guve it from my cell phone, but I have been with all three TCs and both trucks, multie times with just about every combination imaginable from an F550 flatbed with my old 2500 and S&s up on a flatbed, with my big 19k rig being towed by an F600 by a strap up switchbacks with cliffs near Moab (wrote a trip report about that one), on a semi low boy with the big rig, the Lance on too and my dump trailer with skidsteer hanging on with just one axle on the low boy the other off the end.....at 15'8" tall taking every exit possible, swerving through the stop lights to avoid hitting, riding under one underpass I. i25 in the left shoulder riding on the top of my ladder flashing a light telling him to proceed etc etc.
I will simplify my advice to say be prepared to make 100% sure to have the tow company call you directly before they leave and know exactly how much your rig weighs, how tall it is and what you need to do if they tow rear wheels down. Mine have always required rear drive shaft removed to tow that way. Oh yeah, and having AAA RV has been great and they will send the right rig (an HDT for me usually) if you work it with the tow company especially. Only drawback for us with AAA is they won't tow a utility trailer as a part of regular tow unless you manage to wheel and deal it with the tow guys. You can perhaps not tell AAA about the trailer but you HAVE to tell the tow company if you need it towed or you will be sorry if they don't have height gear. You may have to leave it on the road....having said that I have played it different ways but always gotten it taken care of or had someone else that could take my trailer.
