In my 'sticks & bricks' house, I had a soaker hose running the length of the roof ridge. It was controlled by an attic thermostat and a solenoid valve.
Even when the OAT was above 90°F, the temperature in the attic never exceeded 80°F.
It reduced my costs for A/C by about 50%.
