Of course shades for windows and hatches. Our Fantastic Fan has been really effective when AC was not useable. Open only one window on the shady side in the cabover. just a little, it works like the old attic fans, pulls the heat out. We don't have the rain feature, we have a exterior cover that allows the hatch to stay open in rain.
By the way, after 7 years of hard use, a switch failed, they (Fantastic Fan) sent a complete rebuild kit for the cost of shipping, a Fantastic outfit! The Fantastic Fan has a thermostatically controlled feature that shuts down the operation at a set point when the interior cools.
