What do you use to keep the heat down?

Went out to the camper a little while ago...whew! Even with the vent and a window opened, it was hotter than two Racoons in a wool sock.

What does everyone uses to keep the interior cooled down and sunlight out. I think most of the heat comes in direct, through the skylight in the bath.

Edit: Not camping anywhere. Just at home, in the driveway. Supposed to be 100+ all this week into Sat.

  • i installed roof vent covers. then leave the mechanical roof vents open a couple of inches. the fantastic fan was set at 90'f so that air circulates when it gets hot inside.
  • Our camper is on shore power when we are home:

I actually do use the Air conditioner all summer (set it at 80°F and trun it down when we are inside it)

I also use a cube heater in winter... set at 55° or 60°F

We have any where from $30,000 to $50,000 in our campers... why would anyone think it unusual to take care of them?

Note: we could leave it open... to dust, pollen, and theaves to save a few bucks.... nah! I'm not that stupid... I want the TC clean and ready to go on short notice.

  • Never really thought about it, but a few years ago when it was in the 100's here (yes, it does happen) we let the sister-in-law use it during her visit. Come to think of it, she hasn't been back...
  • Very hot I'll open the door, just screen door closed and always keep a couple windows open and roof vent.
  • we have our rig under a carport and we use the a/c when we are doing something that takes some time. But the shade keeps the temps down enough for popping in and out for short chores.
  • It doesn't get as hot here, but we tinted windows and use cardboard as cheap temporary insulation.
  • I knew there was gonna be some smarty pants suggestion. :D
