What Has Newbie Nobby Learned So Far?

What have I learned so far?

In order of importance:

1) Don't buy a TT when the temps are below freezing.
- Any soft spots in wood will be frozen hard
- Cannot test / operate water system, hot water heater etc.

2) Don't make the local RV center your first stop for parts.
Amazon, Walmart, Canadian Tire all carry most of the
obvious stuff.
RV centers enjoy the mark up button on the price tag gun.

3) Seriously filter through any forum advice before you end up down a rabbit hole sucking your thumb and rocking back and forth..

I'm sure there are others that I'll think of along the "journey" of trailer ownership.

I also enjoyed your repair/restoration thread. Come back and let us know how the first camping trip went.

....he's busy right now. He had to step into the bedroom....with his can of pledge, the polishing rag and the vacuum cleaner.....:)

Yes, Nobby, your thread has been fun to follow. And I'm sure you have learned all the things you mentioned......however, the one thing you have learned that you forgot to mention is the importance of keeping Nobette happy with the bathroom mods ! :)

    Happy Wife....Happy Life.

I learned that a loooooong time ago. :)

Excuse me now, while I step into the bedroom.:):)

  • Do not over think the issue. Thousands of folks buy and use TT s every year. Many of the issues discussed on the board simply do not bother them or are significant enough to be of concern.
  • If you're close enough to the border, get a mailbox in the US and get all online purchases delivered there then go pick them up. We've saved tons of $$, maybe even enough to buy another RV... :) As long as you don't bring back too much on a trip, they usually don't charge taxes and duty. Have only been sent inside to do that 3 times over quite a few years.

Shopping 'til you drop in all corners of the internet can save you a lot. There's around 10 or so online RV parts vendors that can be less than ebay and Amazon plus customer service can be much better. Am just trying to process a claim on Amazon for an item not received which can take up to a couple of weeks and I have no idea what's happening with it. Just don't get sucked in by CW's "internet sale" - there stuff is always on sale but is just about always cheaper elsewhere at a regular price.
  • Welcome to the learning curve - and thanks for the smiles. We can all relate, to some extent. Good luck with your project - and gathering all that knowledge! :)
