If you have a offer to trade for 37k I would be taking it asap. If you think you can get more in a private sale go ahead and try but....... never the less your current truck is not going to like pulling that trailer. You can do it, yes, it will pull it, but you wont like how it handles and it will be a workout controlling it on the hiway especially on windy days. Every vehicle that passes you will make it wiggle. Do some local camping close to home and see for yourself.
Now I have to say that your wife is right. You won't regret making the memories with your kids, and they won't either, doing this. I know more than a couple friends that are not engaged in their kids lives all that much and they use the electronic babysitter way too much and you can see its effect on those kids. Go camping, go fishing, go hiking and exploring. Your kids will be better people for it.
Life is short, kids grow up fast and before you know it you're old. Make the most of it now.
