Not sure what year your truck is, but make sure the "seller"/ owner isn't hiding anything in the 2500: motor, trans, etc...
Doesn't sound like to bad of a deal. If the truck is mechanically "sound", and comparable condition to your truck, go for it.
Only downside with getting a 2500 is you may be thinking you could have bought a slightly bigger trailer! Lol
