How have your trips with a 1500 RAM and 30ft trailer been?
You're right, towing a fully loaded 30' trailer with a Ram 1500 does entail a great deal of "good luck". :W
I don't have to tow a 30 footer with a Ram 1500 to know the numbers just don't support such a combination. I have a friend who does just that, has for several years now, and from his perspective it "tows fine". That however doesn't change the fact that with his family of 5 also in the truck he's towing beyond the rated limits of his vehicle. When many of us who are close friends and know his numbers have tried to explain the concepts involved it's fallen on deaf ears, just as it appears is happening with your neighbour. Obviously he can do what he wants, just as the OP of this thread can do what he wants, but it doesn't change the fact the OP is in WAY over his head towing the trailer he originally described with a 1/2 ton. It's just a bad idea. :(
