Sometimes having a large camper doesn't necessarily mean you have any more room inside than a smaller one. I learned that with my 10.5' Vacationeer, compared to my 8.5' Six Pac.
The Six Pac actually had a bigger/longer more comfortable dinette bed than the Vacationeer, despite the Vacationeer being 2-1/2 feet longer and a half foot wider than the Six Pac. The only things gained by having the bigger Vacationeer were- a longer isleway (no benefit there), a bit more counter space (only about a foot), more wardrobe/cabinet space (was nice), and one outside storage compartment in the rear (not all that big). The overcab beds were the same size, as were the wet baths.
I was much happier with the shorter, narrower, lighter weight Six Pac than with that bigger, heavier Vacationeer. I never was excited about it hanging so far out the back of the truck. I did scrape the lower rear of it once in a while. The Six Pac ended at the end of the truck bed and was much better to use off road, especially on the taller, narrower single rear wheel 4wd truck I put it on. :)
I'm not a fan of behemoth campers, and behemoth trucks to haul them with. I prefer something a little smaller and more nimble. If I was wanting something big, I'd get a motorhome, or fifth wheel and be truely comfortable in all it's spaciousness.
To me, a truck and camper represents something that can get out into places that a bigger RV cant go. Truck camper camping is closer to real camping than most types of RVs are. If the camper is too big to get into the places a truck camper should be able to, it defeats the purpose of having a truck camper!
