What in the world to do about TERRIBLE bunkends?

Wow, just did a google search for thermarest bunkends, NOTHING but bad comments, experiences. *sigh*

EDIT: I know Kodiak went to more traditional bunk ends and I've heard "talk" that they may fit. I wish I could find out if I could simply get those and put them on.
