From a manufacturing standpoint I'd think Kodiak only changed the tentage and support system (ridge pole and end bow) and left the trailer attachment points as is when they abandoned the Thermarest tentage. That would be the most economical way to change the design. That's a guess, of course, but I'm thinking the standard tentage and support hardware can be retrofit.
I know folks have had good luck with Rockwood and Jayco trailers going back to the factory for this sort of repair/upgrade. I'd think this would be an "off season" event as I imagine the assembly lines are running full shifts this time of year.
