You do realize that the slides may need to be out for you to be able to use the camper, right?
Yes I already realized this.joerg68 wrote:
Lance has the brochures from their past models all online, so you may be able to find what they once made that suits your wants/needs. Maybe try to access some of the campers that you like and see/feel what they are like and imagine camping in them. No one here knows what you need and how exactly you will use the camper. So in the end only you can make an informed decision.
Still, even if it has no slides at all, maybe have a quick look at the Northstar STC. It has the side entrance.
I'd love to look at their past models from over the years.
Didn't notice that on their site?
Might you have a link?
& as far as how I plan to use it?
I plan to go CAMPING in it! - joerg68Nomad IIIYou do realize that the slides may need to be out for you to be able to use the camper, right?

I've looked at Lance before & never saw that?!?!?
You have a link?
Don't see it on their website?
If only offered certain years I'd love to know what years & model it was.
But not offered new.

But If I buy new I will want a side entrance. - jimh406Explorer IIIThe lightest is the one with no options, no water, minimal batteries and minimal propane with minimal personal belongings in either truck or camper. :)
Seriously though, I think lightest would be a Host or Eagle Cap with the entire list including a Lance, too. I don't think the difference in weight will be that significant unless you have a full tank. The Host in some years has more water capacity ... I think.
My Host double slide with all options is stickered 3571 dry. It also has 60 gallon water capacity. On my SRW, I never carried that much water and even having a nearly full black or grey tank was noticeable. With my F450, I'm not careful about what I carry. - DSSAMPExplorerLance

From my research all those campers "list" in the range of 4000 lb, but you have to follow the option list to get more accurate weight.
When I see huge difference in the space feel with dinette slide, the 2nd slide usually adds more floor space or 2nd sofa, both I don't really care much about.
Than if floor space is important to you, whole wall slide is between.
Who makes a TC with a whole wall side?
That might be awesome? - Blanco1Explorer

It sounds like you really want the space of a triple slide camper but are willing to settle for a double slide due to weight. At a certain point it seems to me that a trailer makes more sense. I have a 9'6" camper without slides. That is as much as I would ever want to carry on a pickup.
Two issues come into play with a trailer.
The space I have available to store it and the fact that I'd like to tow my boat or car toys behind it to the play areas.
That being said , in a perfect world I'd like a side enterence , so I don't have to climb over the tongue of the trailer or disconnect it. - Blanco1Explorer

Yes I want floor space, being we have a 100 lb dog that goes camping with my wife and myself.
In a no slide out camper like my Lance 900, it's too cramped in there.
I really wanted a triple slide but have come to accept that my 1997 dodge dually really is not ideal for all that weight.
So now I'm looking for a lighter dual slide out.
Yes floor plan is important , especially if I end up buying new then I have options, but if looking used, I'll have to take what I can find, yet want to look for the lighter ones vs heavy. - 3_tonsExplorer IIII notice that you have a 1997 Dodge DRW...What is your GVWR??... I had a single slide EC 995 on a 2007 DRW Dodge rated at 12,200 GVWR but wouldn't want to put a heavier double slide on it...Now with a 2016 Ram DRW rated at 14,000 GWR (but same camper).... The frame (reaction over overpass transitions - no flex) seems much more substantial, so a double slide now seems a more viable consideration...
