For what it's worth, when I went from a TT to my 5th wheel, I handed the dealer my Prodigy brake controller (new truck came with one) and asked him to give it to a new young couple buying their first trailer. If you trust the dealer (I did/do) then you could donate the equipment to a new buyer. The hitch I gave to the buyer of my TT but it was part of the deal.
He is probably asking for the hitch because you left parts on the tongue and he wants it complete so he doesn't have to pay to complete it.
Thanks for your reply, too. No, actually, Larry asked one of the young kids working there to help him, and he removed the entire thing from the tongue. It looked just like when we bought it.
We have given away a ton of things. Love and try to live by the Pay It Forward way of living. We recently moved from another state. We donated so much that it was staggering. However, since my husband retired a couple of weeks ago, and we are on a very limited income, we are thankful for even the small things we can sell to recoup some money. Buying the MH has put a huge dent in what was a nest egg. But we are Happy, Happy, Happy. Now, if we could get rid of these bloody 7 and 8 and 9 degree nights, we might be able to de-winterize it and have some FUN!
P.S. Looks like our first trip will be in mid-March to Bristol. Many years it has been FREEZING there for the week of NASCAR. If so, I will be writing to you guys and asking advice on how we survive it, because we ARE going and we ARE camping... no matter what!!!! Blizzard or not. :)
