On a 2000 mile round trip, that's $140 in savings...which would significantly pay for the places we stayed.

There's also the peace of mind knowing that the diesel was able to pull Wolf Creek with no problem whatsoever. The Tahoe? Not so much. Maybe 20MPH in 2/1st gear. No thanks.

I got 13 with a lance 1075 TC, and 12 towing a 25ft TT, with my old dodge unless I had a tail wind, then I could get 14.

It really does depend on speed and wind, the window will be between 9-14

I went from a 24 ft 5,500 lb TT to a 18ft 3,100 T.

I used to get 11mpg with the bigger TT and now I get.......
................................................ 11mpg with
the lighter camper over roughly the same routes.

Obviously frontal area is the deciding factor when towing a TT.

To the OP. You do know that there are two things that guys lie about. One of them is fuel mileage.

I will beat some others to point out that RVing and economical vehicles seldom go together.

14 mpg towing a full height RV is a stretch. Or shall I say a bit optimistic.

Wind resistance squares with the doubling of speed and it requires 8X the power to overcome.

Most people who tow drive way too fast for maximum mpg and I do too, especially when returning and within 100 miles of home.

^ This. On average you’ll get 3-4 mpg better for the same given conditions from a newer gasser to a diesel.
I’m not a good judge of exemplary mileage with any vehicle as I only hyper mile if by chance due to traffic, lol. But the LB7 we had was 16-19 highway and 10-13 towing a similar trailer to a TT.

Highway mileage with my Tahoe can exceed 22 to 24 when not towing at 60 to 65 mph. I get 12 to 12.5 when towing at 55 mph on flat ground. TT weighs 5,100-5,150 wet/loaded. Weight in Tahoe doesn’t vary much ether way.

My 05 chevy diesel Dually, travelling I68 from Ohio to Maryland pulling a 28' TT weight @6000lbs gets 12mpg. This is from about 10 trips average. Speed 60-65. 65+ heads in the high 10s. I get about 17mpg empty. All mpgs figured on paper not what it says on the dash. Gary
