For my money, I'd suggest an updated head unit with either Apple or Android (or both) support, depending on your smartphone platform. My wife and I both have iPhones and both of our vehicles have Apple CarPlay. Mine is aftermarket Kenwood and hers came stock in her Suburban. It is the literal "cat's meow". CarPlay mirrors your iPhone screen, at least what's deemed to be allowable for driving use and/or what's compatible with CarPlay. But like all things, the list of CarPlay apps continues to grow with the popularity of the technology. Yes, it puts your navigation on the screen too. I'm not sure how the Android interface works, but its probably very similar. Smartphone navigation is always up to date and usually traffic conditions are very current (due to the algorithms in the system). The more people who use their smartphones for navigation at the same time, the better data you get.
I wouldn't get concerned so much with the exact brand and model. For these kinds of things, I rely on the customer reviews on Amazon, Crutchfield, and other webstores.
