Does it depend on cell phone coverage?? If so it is useless for me - most of my travels are away from cell tower coverage - that is why I love my Garmin Montana - I can hike with it - take on my rzr or motorcycle and it does everything the in dash units do.
I know that Google maps on my Android allows me to download a local map so that I do not have to rely upon cell coverage for directions. In all honesty, I have never tried it. I have Verizon and have yet to find a place where I don't get sufficient signal for GPS.
