Max safety, oak cribbing blocks. They never fail. My Dad refused to use jack stands, of course he worked mostly on dump trucks. I worked on aircraft carriers for a while, they put those up on cribbing blocks in dry dock. Kinda weird walking around below the carrier.
I use jack stands, but as an engineer, a flaw in the notch or the dog could have a sudden catastrophic failure. Not a lot of metal there. I never get under a vehicle on jack stands. If they fail it is only property damage.
