I bought a bottle jack at Harbor Freight. Had to take some measurements to be sure it collapsed low enough to fit under the frame when a tire was flat, and would lift high enough to raise above a fully inflated tire/wheel. I experienced the joy of changing a tire along a remote highway on a holiday weekend (would have been a longer wait for roadside assistance to find me). I used a 4 way star wrench to break the lug nuts loose. They were really rusted in place. It took an hour to change the tire simply because of the rust (obviously I am not qualified to be on a NASCAR pit crew). I used a clicker torque wrench to put the nuts back on. After that fun filled hot August afternoon I searched and found a Kawasaki 12V impact wrench from Northern Tools. I went with the NT Kawasaki over the others because it has a higher torque rating. It certainly isnt as fast as a pneumatic wrench. It takes about 2 or 3 seconds to "wind up" between each "wham" impact hit; but using it to break the nuts loose is way better than trying to do it manually. I have an extension cord with battery clips so the wrench will reach from the TT or TV batteries to any of the wheels.
Being prepared pretty much ensures I will never have to experience that again. My goal is to be sure my family isnt stuck by the side of a highway without a solution.
