You said no deserts, but NOW is the time to see the south west deserts. and they are spectacular if you look. I love the areas around Red Rock Cyn State park, In California, and if you go a few miles east, it's FREE! Also Anza Borrego, and the Joshua Tree National park are perfect, as are the deserts around southern Arizona, and new Mexico. The north rim of the Grand Canyon, and the petrified forest are really nice. and the entire Colorado River drainage is superb!
