Why not custom order your new truck and get exactly what you want for a tow vehicle? That's what we did and couldn't be happier with our 2016 F-150.
I'm not a gambler. :)
Dealer won't commit to holding 2012 F150 Trade In price
Interest rate can't be held by Credit Union or Dealer
Dealer can't commit on delivery date
Seen to many orders cancelled by Ford on F150 forums
I don't want to be waiting months to finally receive a truck that doesn't drive right or has cosmetic flaws. I have test drove a couple of trucks that didn't drive 'right' or had some serious factory delivered cosmetic flaws.
BTW, do you have some good ideas on 2016 F150s mirrors??
Do you have access to Fords "X plan"?
With X plan many of your "variables" are "locked in" so to speak.
PRICE of the vehicle is locked in, it won't go up if Ford bumps the MSRP after you have ordered.. Dealer related "fees" are CAPPED and locked in, dealer cannot increase them for any reason and they cannot exceed the limits set forth by the program.
As far as Ford cancelling orders, well that can't be helped, sometimes there is a change in design or a supplier change that affects specific options that may have been ordered..
If worst comes to worst, order a F250 instead, I have never had a order cancelled for the three I have bought AND you GET POWERED TOWING MIRRORS from XLT and up trim levels..
As far as those strapped on mirrors, tried one years ago on a light duty truck, just simply junk.. Pain to get on, pain to get off and in between they shook a lot making looking in to the mirrors a pain in the eyes.
The only downside to X Plan I have found is there is NO wiggle room for trade ins, they will only offer WHOLESALE pricing for the trade in.. That is fixed by selling the old vehicle yourself.. Selling it yourself will overall net you more than using it as a trade..
