Thanks everyone, appreciate the information. I keep all of it in mind when I'm ready to buy mirrors.
Bought my truck tonight, dealer stayed open until 11:30pm to finish the deal. Got a great deal. $1500 over what my 2012 F150 was worth on KBB, 1.79% financing for 6 years, my X-plan, $3750 in rebates, and the truck I wanted.
I was going back and forth on the 6.5' bed and the HD payload package. Since they made the great deal on the truck on the lot, it made it clear. I wasn't so sure about the 6.5' bed as I stick on in parking lot road ways as it is. Plus I was able to get my 5.0L with the 3.73 locker and the 36 gallon gas tank.
I had some dislikes with the chrome package. The side steps had a few spots where the chrome pealed and corroded, and the chrome was a pain keeping looking good. They had the same truck with the chrome package, my truck even came with the black side steps so no more corroded side steps.
I got a 2016 Magnetic 5.0L Crew Cab 4WD with 3.73 locker, 5.5' bed, Ford Sport liner bed liner, 301A package, Black Side Steps, Tow package, Brake Controller, and 36 gallon gas tank. Everything my old truck has except the chrome package and I swapped the old reverse sensing system for the new backup camera.
Since my last 3 trucks were Blue, I wanted a metallic Grey again like I had in my previous Titan. The Magnetic was it!
I wasn't impressed with the Tow mirrors all that much. I drove 3 trucks today, 2 5.0L and an Ecoboost which had the tow mirrors. The upper glass seemed smaller than my previous 2010 F150 tow mirrors and the separation between the flat top mirror and the bottom convex mirror seemed larger. I had a hard time adjusting to it.
I will say that I was impressed with the 3.5L Ecoboost. I wasn't in the previous generation. It's like all my dislikes were gone with the Ecoboost. Lag was minimal compared to the many previous Generation F150s I drove. The torque was really good as well being much better than the previous generation.
Trucks drove different with the Ecoboost being quiet and accelerating hard in the lower rpms while the 5.0L downshifted quickly in the 3500 to 4000 rpm and really growled louder than my 2012 5.0L.
Ecoboost seemed quicker at first, but I noticed since it was quieter, I was getting into the throttle more than the 5.0L. The louder growl of the 5.0L kept me out of the throttle as much.
Either engine is great in the power and I had no problem with the Ecoboost performance like I did on the previous generation. BTW, the Ecoboost truck had the same configuration as mine but with the 302A/chrome package which weighed 100 lbs more, and the 3.55 locker.
I chose the 5.0L because I feel more confident in it and it still has plenty of torque down low with a lower rpm peak now than the 2012 I had, and being 660 lbs lighter.
I also got 1890 lbs of payload compared to my 2012s 1582 lbs. So that payload will allow me tow a much heavier trailer and load more if I ever feel the need. No need for the HD payload truck.
Also, I was worried about the wind noise I kept reading about. All 3 trucks were dead silent up to 70 mph! Actually much more quiet than my 2012.
