What type of pickup truck do i need?

Hi,
Im new here and am trying to figure out what to buy.
If I get a TT (im getting the lingo. lol), I will need
a pickup truck.

What models do I look for? I want to start pricing them
out. Used.

Some I have noticed have double back wheels. Lower gas
milage?

What about 2W vs 4WD?

thanks,
groundhogy
  • "Unless you want something really heavy, a 3/4 ton 4-wheel drive"

why does it have to be 4WD?
  • I have currently a mazda minivan.

But don't you need like a towing package.. what ever that is.... like oil cooling and stuff?
  • Unless you want something really heavy, a 3/4 ton 4-wheel drive pickup will pull any trailer out there.
  • Welcome to the Forum...
    >Pick a trailer that you are interested in and think will work for you.

    >Come back here to the Forum and post the make, model, length and most important the GVWR (gross vehicle weight rating)

There are lots of friendly and knowledgeable folks here that can then give you advice.
  • Actually with a TT, depending on the size and your needs, you may find a large SUV or van to meet your needs. You just need a vehicle with enough cargo capacity to carry the tongue weight and enough tow capacity to pull the trailer.

Some I have noticed have double back wheels. Lower gas
milage? Double back is referred to as a DRW (dual rear wheels) Most cases, your mileage will be 8-10 mpg.

What about 2W vs 4WD? That really depends on your use. Where you're located & under what conditions & areas of the country
you intend on visiting & what time of year.
