We have a Gulfstream Independence 32-ft. There are definitely things we are changing about our RV. First, they planted a TV on a panel smack in the middle of the bedroom wall behind a panel in front of about 4 or 5 cubic feet of dead space. Crazy! We took the TV down and put it on a blank wall and built cubbies and doors so we could use the dead space.
The large bottom drawer under the sink banged open every time we drove, so we went to a chandlery and got one of the finger latches they use on boats. We had to drill a hole in the door, but a little sandpaper and stain made it look perfect. It also works perfectly.
The pantry shelves were clumsy and the door kept getting pushed open by the pantry contents on the road. We installed sliding pantry shelves and put bolts on the shelves so they could not push the door open.
They also wasted valuable space in the cabinet under the stove by putting the built-in vacuum unit there. Meanwhile, there was a long blank panel next to the sink with wasted, inaccessible space behind it. We took the vacuum unit out of the stove cabinet and installed 3 drawers for pots and pans. We put hinges and a handle on the blank panel and put the vacuum unit behind it. I know that cabinetry is expensive, but they really did a lousy job of something that would hardly have cost $50 to make into usable space. Considering the cost of the rig, I feel that Gulfstream is just being cheap.
The last complaint I would have that I can do nothing about is that I could use 6 inches more on the wall side of the bed so I could make the bed. I guess that we are stuck with that.
We plan to sell the house and full time for a few years, so I'll be back with other complaints when I find them.
