My wife and I went through the same thing. At the time of purchase, we had a 5 month old and two small dogs. We decided that a 24 ft would be perfect for us. We did many trips this way and soon realized that we should have waited a year, gotten a larger truck, and the larger trailer. Utilizing the "pack and play" took up quite a bit of room and had to be set up and taken down for both naps and the then again for the overnight. Then we had the little standers or bouncers to keep her entertained. (They took up a lot of room too) With all of that, it was really tight. We too are ready for our second child and with the floor plan we had, it wouldn't have worked.
With that said, I could have continued camping in that trailer because I'm simple and don't need much. However, my wife is new to camping and requires a bit more comfort. She was less than happy and wanted something larger. And seeing as another child is in our future, we went bigger.
I know that is probably more information than you wanted, but we just went through this. It really comes down to what makes you and your significant other happy. If you just enjoy the camping experience and are pretty simple, you will make anything work.
Finally, consider your TV in all of this. How long do you plan to keep it and how long do you plan on keeping the TT. Even if you get a great deal on your new TT, you are going to lose money when you trade it in.
