What's the best in between the bed & camper padding?

I'll be putting my camper back on the truck in a bit & wonder if there are some things better than others in between? Wood? Rubber? Carpet? I doubt carpet due to mold? Then again wood mig...

People use a piece of plywood and I guess that works. Foam is way cheaper than rubber. either the jigsaw type or I got a solid 4X8 exercise mat at Walmart, both work just fine and are far less hassle than rubber.
