Wheel covers for outdoor storage in winter snow

Rubber has a birth date and a life according to Avaition experts. Tires only last so long and they rot period. I hvae coverd them and left them uncovered. I lived in the desert and tires lasted 10-15 years, same as in VA and I think covers are a waste of money. What I understand is heat is the problem so if it's hot, its hot under the cover as well.
