- TrackrigExplorer IIOnly when winterizing which has been twice in five years. MH is often in storage for three months at a time.
Bill - Sandia_ManExplorer IIIf we should happen to go more than a month, I may drain FW tank although I don't do anything with hot water tank. Since experiencing poor water quality at various campgrounds many years ago we normally fill our tank at home with chlorinated city water and bring it with us on our RVing excursions. As such, water in our FW tank will last many months before souring.
It is indeed rare for us to hook up our water hose when at a campsite that provides water, and we don't fret the extra weight as we purchased a tow vehicle to carry the entire GVWR (dry weight is meaningless) of our rig with room to spare. Of course all tanks are emptied during winterization of the unit and that is the only time we drain all the water lines as well. - corvettekentExplorerThe only time I drain mine is when it may freeze.
- mikebreezeExplorerI let mine go too long once. And the water stunk when I hooked it up on a subsequent trip. So now I drain it after every trip when I use either city or RV water.

How long do you let water sit in your lines and water heater before draining? Do you drain every trip, if it sits a month?
Since the water in the holding tank NEVER goes into my mouth.....the answer is never.
It gets a little extra shot of chlorine after draining most of the water just before it starts it's "winter" nap but no "winterization" requied in Florida. - downtheroadExplorerEvery trip no, a month or more....probably.
