A WD hitch is to keep the front (steering) tires with good contact on the ground. Otherwise, you have very poor steering. Before putting the trailer on the hitch, measure from the ground to the front tire fender. After putting the trailer on, and you completely raise the trailer jack so the truck has all of the trailer weight it will carry, measure it again. If it is more than 1/2" different, you probably need a WD hitch.
