I store mine within five feet in front of my garage front door. It serves as my Mans Cave, with bathroom and beer. It has a dump, and plugged in. When it is real hot, I may turn the A/C on and use the TC to cool off. It prevents me from tracking stuff in the house when I work outside, which is often. If I am not camping, that is where it sits, on or off the truck, year round since 2004. The previous owner stored it under an Oak tree since new, untill 2004. The TC has only been under a roof for storage for about a week.
My TC is a 1988, so it has been stored outside for about 25 years. The original owner never re-caulked the TC in 16 years. I have re-caulked it two times in 9 years. I have only had two leaks, and they were from the window caulk. I think the TCs ability to survive outside is the molded fiberglass. I have stored my 1996 truck outside also.
I do have a metal covered building about 400 feet from my garage/TC storage. I prefer to use it for working on projects or my tractor storage.
