In your opinion, where do you think in the Lower 48 are TC's the most popular... not necessarily by state, but rather a region. Where are they the least?The west in the Rocky Mountain region we have a decent amount. I think this is for the convenience of going into more remote areas that even an off-road pop-up cannot go. I am assuming (yes, we all know the trouble assuming can get us into) but I would guess that TC's are less in numbers where other types of rec vehicle CAN go. I am thinking that smaller TT's and 5ers in the mid west or southeast are more of the preferred type.What is your opinion on regional TC popularity?

Had a buddy form Prescott Az who said they were very popular there.

When I have camper on truck and stop at service station I get some comments like they did not know they still make TC's. However,when you let folks know how easy it is to travel with one and how easy to go about any place a car or truck can,they see the benefits of one.Now when we come to your state almost every year to fish,I see TC's every day and every place we go.The only comments we get is that some folks say they wish the could take their camper where we are able to.So, cross the Mississippi River and you start seeing a lot of TC's.

We did a month long cross country drive in our tc last spring. It's a rare thing to see a truck camper at a state park in Indiana. When we do see one, it really looks odd. I see some in the area where I live and work parked in front of the owners house (well, actually only 1), not on any truck. I see that more in driveways than in any campground. I would say, a very, very wild estimate, in Indiana where I live, for every 400 travel trailers, motor homes, pop-up campers, and fifth wheels parked at someone house, you'll see 1 truck camper.

I have heard that TC's are more popular in both the North West and North East, rarely see one in the South East I don't know about Mid West or South West.

Where iin the Lower 48 are TC's the most popular, least...?

Up here in Ma. I see quite a few at least 3 every trip weekends mostly,
on a nice summer weekend you can count between 25-50 on Sandyneck beach
and in the fall on Plum Island 10 to 15 on a good weekend
last year I stayed at Salisbury State Park late in the fall and there were maybe
15 sites occupied with 3 truck campers on them

Above, the WA count is not representative, at all. It’s TC Mecca here. I probably see 4 each day in my Seattle commute.
Agree, in general the further west the more TCs.

West of the Mississippi - Popular
East of the Mississippi - Not so much
Mostly 1/2 ton trucks towing travel trailers and motor homes in the East. There really isnt anyplace to "camp" in the East other than RV Parking lots.... I mean campgrounds.

If you are coming to the SE to count dead Armadillo's,come in the spring time when mating season and because of their bad eyesight they will run into the traffic.

You don't see many of them in the Southeast. This is the land where the 1/2 ton pickup reigns as a daily driver for LOTS of households. So when they start looking at RVing, the easiest route in is with something that will work with a 1/2 ton, which eliminates 90% or more of truck campers.

Most people don't have any use for a 1 ton pickup, so buying a dedicate expensive vehicle and relatively expensive truck camper just doesn't make sense when you already have a 1/2 ton pickup. That's exactly why I don't have one.

LOL Thats great! We did that last trip from Dallas Texas to Upstate N.Y. only with DRW Trucks. Of course Rams won out!

I camped at Loogootee State Park a few years back and I had some curiosity seekers stop by wanting to learn more about it as they were intrigued.

Not common in the Chicago area at all. I do see more when we go up to Wisconsin Michigan or over to Iowa.
