I think if you ask most folks here, you'll find that it's very rare to the point of being almost unheard of to have to add/tune your air on the road.
If your tires are leaking to the point where you need air NOW and can't move on to the next service area or truck stop, you've got bad leaks that need to be fixed before you hit the road again.
I've only needed to air up once on the road, and then it was a waste of time to try adding air because the valve stem had failed. While I don't remember exactly what kind of air chuck was on the pump at the gas station in the small town where I discovered the flat, I know I was able to get it in there and get it on the valve stem to find out that air was the last thing the tire needed.
I would expect truck stops to have air available with the appropriate dually chuck where the trucks go. You will have to suck it up and mingle with the "big boys" if you are desperate for air. When in doubt, ask the cashier.
