Or another solution would be to buy a small compressor. .
This. But I wouldn't get anything that plugs into the cigarette lighter. You want something that you need to clamp secure to the battery terminals (or permanently mounted) and has a 100% duty cycle.

Finally! This is exactly what I have been looking for. Thanks. It has great reviews on Amazon, a 12V compressor with a dual chuck that is capable of filling truck tires. It is hooked up to the truck battery and you run the truck engine while running the compressor to give it the necessary power.

I would expect truck stops to have air available with the appropriate dually chuck where the trucks go. You will have to suck it up and mingle with the "big boys" if you are desperate for air.
Oh no! This is what I was afraid of. Well, it sounds like I will have to hang with the big boys.
I think for this trip I am going to order the compressor but won't have time to play with it before the trip. So I may do one fill up at a truck stop.
To respond to multiple comments, my concern is not about needing to air up during a trip. Rather, I have lost some air pressure over the summer. The only places I knew to fill air that have the truck style dual chuck adapter is truck stops, and there are no truck stops near where I live. Therefore the idea of doing it during the trip. Now some have mentioned going to a tire shop to fill air. That is another idea.
Another reason to carry a compressor is so if you get a nail in a tire you can do a temporary repair (with a tire repair kit) then air up the tire. Yes I also have a spare tire but I assume that changing a wheel on the truck (especially the rear duallys) is more than an old guy like myself should attempt myself. So if I could do a tire repair it could save waiting for a tow truck.
