So in my case, that 850lb torque is sufficient to handle the Mobile Suite at low speed even if I choose to go with 3.42, correct? This trailer will never exceed 18500lb.
With 28K on the clock and combined just over 28K the truck really performs well. As I have said before 3rd gear on 6% grades at 55. With the extra 50tq and 35hp there should be no reason not to get the 3:42 other than starting off on steeper hills.
So for me it will be a though decision on what gear ratio to get.
When I first bought my truck you should have read about all the nay sayers dissing my load with 3:42 gears but I think Ram saw what guys like me were doing and that is why the 3:42's are only available on the single rear wheeled trucks.
I was offered a gear swap at Dave Smith Motors to 4:10's front and rear for $1,800 but decided it was not worth it even tho that was a great price.
