This all makes sense... Sounds like 3.42 is the ratio I need, especially given that this truck will be both the tv and also the daily driver...
I would try to get a handle on the difference in fuel mileage between the 3.42 and the 3.73 gears not towing or hauling. If there is no significant difference (most here say there would not be and I agree) then why not get the 3.73 axles especially if you plan to tow a lot in the mountains?
