- goducks10ExplorerI installed a Tekonsha Primus IQ. Same innards as P2, P3 but w/o all the extra features. I just set it to B2 and it works great. Had nothing but problems with my Ram OEM TBC so I got the Primus IQ. Couldn't be happier. I do miss the TBC from my 2010 F150. It worked really well. More integrated feeling than the Primus.
- ZeeLet50ExplorerI got mine from Plugitright.com. Bought it in March of this year. They may have stopped carrying it but there still is a reference on their site about it however it does not appear on their store page.

Yep,gotta go with Maxbrake, just got one this spring so they are around. Closest thing you can get to the factory system.
Company I got it from has very good customer service. Very progressive. other than that I have heard P3 is the way to go.
Just doing a lot of searching and poking around on the net, all indications are Max Brake went out of business sometime in the summer of '13. - DE88ROXExplorerProdigy P2

How about sharing the vendor with us that you purchased the Maxbrake from! - ZeeLet50ExplorerYep,gotta go with Maxbrake, just got one this spring so they are around. Closest thing you can get to the factory system.

A far better and more elegant solution is to look into the Tekonsha Prodigy RF brake controller. Once paired on your trailer, it is plug and play... and you can take it to your next vehicle, and not leave unsightly holes in your dash panels, it fits in the power outlet, lighter outlet.
It's what I use on my 2012 VW Touareg Sport TDI. - gmw_photosExplorerI believe MaxBrake is out of business.
As to whether the OE IBC is better than a prodigy, that "could be", but I will say this, the integrated brake control on our Ford absolutely will not tolerate any flaky wiring in the trailer. We had one of the horse trailers that the brakes would only work intermittently when hooked to the F350, but would work fine when hooked to the Nissan, which has a Prodigy P2. Was discussing it with my local trailer repair shop, and he advised me that both the Ford and GM IBC's are pretty touchy about all the wiring being in tip-top shape. Sure enough, we had a ground in the trailer that was getting corroded.
So I guess you could view this as a good or a bad thing.
The IBC in the Ford works fine ( when it works ! ), but I will say I am also happy with the P2 in the Nissan. I do like the "boost" settings available on the prodigy, as I would like to think in my own mind anyway, that feature helps save the truck brakes a little ( probably not enough to matter though ? ....but hey, it makes me feel good :))
EDIT, PS, if I were buying one now, I would go ahead and spend the extra few bucks for the P3. When I bought my P2, they had not yet introduced the P2 - BoskieExplorerHad a Voyager, now have the P2. The P2 works for me..
