This is after 3 years of use, these are supposedly the improved ones and not much better than the old style jacks.
Buy a camper that does not use HappiJacs. - ardvarkExplorerComponent selection by builders may be based on financial decisions, not necessarily quality. Component manufacturers work long and hard to establish lasting alliances with builders often based on price point.
And again, maybe Happijac is a loser. Don't know - DWeikertExplorer II

Two two larger camper manufacturers don't use Happijacs:
Arctic Fox/Wolf Creek (Northwood MFG) and Lance.
Host = Rieco Titan
Northwood + Rieco Titan.
Lance = Attwood
Bigfoot appears to be using Rieco Titan
AMLRV (Adventurer and Eagle Cap) = Happijac
Northern Lite = Happijac
Off the top of my head I can't think of any other mainstream truck camper brands that build high volume.
Northstar = Happijac
Chalk me up as another disappointed HJ user. Had 3 motors rebuilt due to water intrusion. You know it's a bad sign when a company that makes an item intended for outdoor use tells you to protect them from rain. A few years ago HJ went to having their motors built in China and their reliability was even worse. Not sure if they pulled the manufacturing back to the US, had China improve their quality or if the new motors are still crappy.
My camper is now stored under a carport, but I still have a spare motor that I plan to keep available. - 54sudsExplorerhj has worked "very hard" to earn their nick name (CRAPPY JACK) their horrible qc/poor design has cost me many thousands of dollars repairing and replacing their junk

What is the market share of Happijac, RT and Atwood? Any knowledge or guesses?

Which brand is your choice for best value/cost/quality electric corner jacks?
Rieco Titan
Arctic Fox has been using them for many years.SidecarFlip wrote:
I like RT myself. RT is an easy company to deal
RT= Rieco Titan- ardvarkExplorerNo idea as to market share which is my point. Whenever we get into a "what is best" discussion I am always left wondering what the failure or problem rate really is by manufacturer.
For example, I am in the industry and have been for decades and I often see comparisons of one component or another with many complaints about one brand or another that is so market dominant it dwarfs all the other combined. That leaves me wondering if it is really any worse or actually could even be better but there are just so many more users to report on failures.
It may well be just dumb luck that my Happijacs now going on age 15 are still going strong. They might really be failure prone, I don't know. I surely do not think that Lippert's buyout benefited them, but that is about all I can say. - Dave_PeteExplorer IIWhat is the market share of Happijac, RT and Atwood? Any knowledge or guesses?
I've always been a big Happijac supporter but my new zinc or galvanized tie down turnbuckles threads are already starting to rust. That experience lends weight to Happijac complaints in this thread. And that was my second set. First was missing manufacturing crimps. - ardvarkExplorerThe obvious problem with this type of exchange is if there is one brand that is market dominant that is the brand that will draw the the most complaints simply because there are more of them. For example, if all the different manufacturers fail at about the same rate, but one manufacturer controls 80% of the market, you will find many more complaints, even if it is as reliable as the others.
