That's what I'd do, the difficulty being you really need to have a torque wrench rated for 320 ft-lbs to properly torque those head shank bolts ... and if you need to re-torque the hitch ball it requires 430 ft lbs. Up to 250 ft lb torque wrenches are pretty common but not many own one heavier than that ... at the time I owned my 1000 / 10,000 lb Equal-i-zer a friend loaned me his monster 600 ft lb torque wrench but later when I wanted to readjust it I had to borrow it again ... a real PITA and one of several reasons I'd now consider a Blue Ox Sway Pro if I were needing a new WD system. That said, once your Equal-i-zer is properly set up with the trailer loaded as it would be for a camping trip measure the gross tongue weight and if it's no more than ~ 650 lbs stick with your current 600 / 6,000 lb Equal-i-zer. I have a Sherline tongue weight scale for this purpose but it can be done just as easily using the
bathroom scale method.
