your TV will make up just fine. not a bad idea to find a comfortable gear and lock in though.
continued gear hunting going up will heat transmission after a bit.
surprised no one told you to find lock the transmission in a lower gear going down. even if its first,, or one that will hold the vehicle with very little use of breaks. gear down to prevent both a runaway and save the brakes on both trailer and tow vehicle.
COMING DOWN CAN BE MUCH MORE DANGEROUS THAN GOING UP
as hammer head already said; rule of thumb, go down a hill or mountain pass, in a gear the vehicle will pull going up the same grade.
i have found you need to drop 2 gears with most modern auto trans trucks and pu i have driven.
