Whining hot water heater

iwould say its one of the checkvalves is bad and is vibrating instead of opening all the way
change it out the noise should go away

I have the exact same high pitch whine coming from the Attwood water heater on my 2015 Starcraft. It is on my list of things for the dealer to look at this spring. It is very bothersome at times.

Mine did it when new but eventually quit. It doesn't hurt anything when it whines so I never worried about it.

How long did it take to quit? Did you ever determine where the noise was coming from?

our camper does that, when the water is hot. then we just flip off the switch.

Yes it was so loud when I opened the cabinet where it was that it was clear it was coming from the check valve on the bottom of the WH.
I think it stopped making the noise during the second season we owned it. But I'm not real sure when it was because I just got used to it and frankly, my hearing is getting worse and I don't hear high pitched stuff the way I used to. Heck, maybe it still does it and I just cant hear it LOL! (Wife says it doesn't do it though)

I believe the noise being asked about here is being made only when the water heater is on. No water needs to be flowing through the heater. Noise sounds to me to be very "electronic".
Where is this check valve that has been mentioned? Inlet line to the water heater to act as a back-flow preventer?

The noise is definitely electronic. It starts the instant you flip either hot water switch, gas or electric. Flow of water or temperature of water makes no difference. If you open the exterior cover, and put your ear as close as possible, it sounds like its coming from the circuit board. If you pull one of the brown wires off the thermostat, it stops. That made me think it was the thermostat, and since I had an adjustable thermostat I was going to use on another RV, I plugged the two thermostat wires into the adjustable one while holding it-whining returned. The sound has nothing to do with water movement or gas movement.
