The TC makes traveling and being spontaneous easy.
We stop a lot more at interesting sights or to just take a break. - GeewizardExplorer

Always had or have from 2 - 4 RV's at any given time since the 1960's. The gambit of types/styles. Why? No one type/style of RV does everything the best or fits all needs or wants for various RV'ing usages.
And that's exactly why I am thinking about another RV.
My AF811 and man-cave trailer work very well for my dual sport motorcycle trips. I have revisited the toy hauler idea, but axed it because the TC and trailer works so much better for a single person. Any toy hauler is going to be overkill.
I'm wanting to do other trips, with no off-road toys, where I get off the beaten path, or park and set up a base camp and go explore. This idea has been with me for about a year. One example of the "base camp" scenario, which is the easiest to describe is going to Yellowstone... set up camp, then unhook and tour the park.
Doable with the TC? Yes, but breaking camp every day and driving the land yacht all over the park would get old.
The other idea: getting back off the beaten path on Forest Service roads with another truck I have as a tow rig.
I'm thinking small travel trailer.
I've looked at the Nash 18L (they only exist in the used market, and are very hard to find) and the Nash 17K.
I'm now thinking smaller and lighter than those, maybe a single axle lightweight.
X2. We're looking for a small TT like the Retro 16", T@B, or RPod. - JoeChiOhkiExplorer IIGot a 40' Heartland Fifth wheel, which is our house, and two truck campers, one of which is slated to be sold when the other one is finished being rebuilt.
- billtexExplorer IIWe have the 2 shown in sig...if it were up to me we would have only one.
Guess which one I would keep ;) - Reddog1Explorer II

My 11.5 foot Bigfoot TC is close to the same length as my 19-foot 5th wheel, but the 5th wheel has lots more space inside. I guess I should add, the 5er is the wife's Girl Cave. She has me tow it for her. The Bigfoot is my Man Cave. Actually, we both really like the 5er.Reddog1 wrote:

A 19' five'r?? My TC is bigger than that! :B (sorry Wayne...)

I've noticed. ;)
I poke around in there a few times a week too.
Having a TC and other RV is more common than I though based on the responses I have seen here.
Lots of long time members here that I had no idea have a trailer (5'er or TT) in addition to the TC.- BoatycallExplorer

I had two for quite a while, a 42' Cyclone Toyhauler, and at that time, an AF1140. There were just places I flat out couldn't take a 42'TH, and if I just wanted to go somewhere to camp, having the option to switch to the AF was great.
Now, I have the EC camper in my sig with the big cargo trailer, but I find myself wandering back over to the Toyhauler forums poking around for another one.
- JumboJetExplorer2003 Fleetwood Expedition Class A Motor Home
2011 Lance 1050S TC.
Took 4,710 mile vacation with wife, daughter, and grandson in motor home in July.
At KOA in South Dakota this week in Lance TC - just me.
TC is typically just me and the wife, or just me during hunting season.
Motor home is for more than me and the wife. - TxGearheadExplorer IIWe have a Montana High Country 305RL 5th wheel and the recently acquired 2008 Bigfoot 25C9.4. Hoping to use the Bigfoot for when we want to cover ground without having to worry about getting into restaurants, gas stations, small public campgrounds.
- travelnutzExplorer IIdeltabravo,
Exactly!
We always have a TC and is used for close outings or distance when pulling one of our larger fiberglass boats or hauling the enclosed Vee Nose trailer for various reasons. Also perfect for festivals and events and/or going to the beach for eating our take-out dinner and watching the sunsets. Don't do much off-road travel exploring any more at our age.
Our TC rigs is also perfect for our Alaska trips and park anywhere as all are truly self-contained including a generator and an inverter with 3 group 31 Deep Cycle batteries to go with 60 lbs of propane (2 30 lb tanks). Why would we pull a biggie trailer or drive our Class A's over 5,000 miles there and over 5,000 miles back just to have a place to sleep, eat, use the bathroom and try to find a CG site large enough for and during a 9-10 week trip. Pulled a large 5'er once up there and NEVER again! Makes no sense at all! Love being nimble handling and stopping where we want to whether is at a CG or whatever.
The 5th wheels and big Class A's were and mainly are for our 2-1/2 month wintering in Florida and visiting family down there. Home away from home as we'd sold our getaway place down there we had for 19 years. Miss it like a broken arm! Yes, even towed a boat behind the 5'ers and MH's many years until some southern states changed their laws. Even double towed many years after the changed laws and never was stopped and it really didn't matter anyway as we kept a boat in Florida too for the 19 years too. Boats like RV's, no one type or size does everything well or floats our boat. We want what we want when we want it! So we get what we want and then have it! Only going to live once and better make the best of it because you cab never turn the clock backwards! It's all over when the fat lady sings and your memories of the past doings and enjoyments are yours forever as long as you are conscious and breathing and they can never be taken away from you by others!
In between were many TT's and a couple Class B's etc for various reasons and uses.
Simply stated: Excuses don't and won't hack it but real actions do and will!
And is why we are such longtime "travelnutz", land, sea, and air!!
