Just curious. My wife and I are getting back into traveling by trailer after being out of it for over a decade, and in our case, I'll probably be doing all the driving and backing. We got a pair of walkie-talkies, and are finding that they make us a much better backing team. With the exception of one close call with a very sneaky tree. It's been our experience that my wife and I have vastly different skill sets in general, so we complement each other well. It just happens that my vehicle handling comes to me naturally, be it a sailboat, motorcycle, or a truck and trailer rig. Is it safe (PC) to call it pretty much a guy thing? As a guy, raised in the 50's and 60's, I see vehicle handling as something I have to be competent at. Plus, I'm interested in it. I'd be happy if my wife could pilot the rig half the time, but it's not where here skill or interest lies. So what's the setup in your family unit? Who drives? Curious too, if the non-driver is the planner/navigator.

I don't have a TT, but I do all of MH the driving. My wife will not drive at all and I knew that when we bought it. She will drive the car when we get to our destination though. I also do all of the navigation. JMO

I always did all the driving, my wife would have nothing to do with it. I would have walkie talkies, but only use them if there was no cell coverage. With a walkie talkie only one person can talk at a time and the reception is usually horrible. With a cell phone I cna put it on speaker phone and concentrate on driving.

We've got a 33' TT, and my wife pulls it maybe 10-15% of the time. She doesn't mind pulling it, and is always offering to, but I enjoy driving, so I do most of it. She does not back, and always has an exit strategy when she pulls in somewhere. I should probably let her drive Mose so that she gets more comfortable with it. I keep telling my 16 years old daughter that she has to learn also.

I drive the DW navigates. When I get tried, I nap and she drives. She leaves the winding through city streets to me while she navigates but any normal road; Interstate, US highway or County is fair game for her. Since I do not like to ride and she likes to knit, tat lace, crochet or quilt while I drive; I drive about 90 percent of the time.Backing in to a campsite is easy, she stands to the side so I can see her in the mirror and guides me in so I do not hit anything. My iron clad guarantee states, "I can park the TT within the first 12 of 15 tries." No excuses. :)I discovered very early on, that those few time I backed in perfectly on the first try, no one reduced my camping fees or ran out and presented me a medal nor did it show up on my permanent record from high school. :) :) After that it became less of an issue.Happy Trails

My wife will tow on interstates but never into towns. We use W/T's while backing it up.

She also can operate the awning , cooks and sells hot dogs out of it while parked in parking lots . It off sets the fuel bills.

My wife and I share duties, she'd rather not do big cities and I'd rather not drive at dusk or after dark (traffic anxiety for her, eye issues for me). I let her do most of the backing in as she's better at it and I'm better at giving clear directions.

For short trips I usually drive, she navigates. For long trips we switch at every gas stop. Helps keep us fresh. If it is a very scenic area she will drive as my looking everywhere makes her nervous.

She does great going forward but does not like backing up. We have started using our cell phones for giving directions backing up and it works great.

She won't touch the wheel if there's a trailer.

OTOH, there's a reason it takes millions of sperm to make a woman pregnant - they refuse to ask for directions.

We share the driving equally. But, DH does the backing in while I guide him.
