We had a dealership tell us that an injector failed due to water in the fuel on our 2010 Duramax. They charged us $1000 to flush the fuel system which we paid but only because we didn't want to take the time to fight with them. We run about 20 diesel engines that all fill from the same farm storage tank - none of the other engines showed any sign of water in the fuel - even the Duramax that they claimed had water in the fuel tank never had a water in fuel warning light come on. I have two possible theories - 1. the dealership is crooked or 2. the mechanic who worked on the truck saw the dyed (purple) farm fuel and having never seen fuel that color before he ruled it as contaminated fuel.
