I cut a 36" extension for a 2-1/2" receiver down to 22" to haul my 16" open aluminum trailer with ATV's in the factory 2-1/2" receiver hitch. I've been doing this for thousands of miles (including many dirt roads and gravel pits) for three years without any issues. Not everyone needs a Superhitch, it really depends on your load.
