- JIMNLINExplorer IIIEvery diesel truck owner will have different math for break even miles for the diesel option. To many variables for a one size fits all.
- dodge_guyExplorer III want my money now!!! I’ll take gas thank you!

you will pay for the added cost of the Diesel engine in 333 years
about the same time the payments end with the cost of new trucks:E - spoon059Explorer IIJust curious how they arrived at that number. As far as I know, these aren't even for sale yet, so we have zero idea what the real world cost of the truck will be. Without knowing true initial cost and without knowing resale value, this seems like quite the capricious "study"...
- gboppExplorerI bet if you drove carefully, kept the tires properly inflated, etc, you could recover the cost of the diesel in 300 years rather than 333 years. :B
- midnightsadieExplorer IIX@ I buy what I want to drive.
- DuctapeExplorerSo what? How long does it take to recoup the investment in a Platinum trim rather than an XL?

According to goodcarbadcar.com if you compare the 2018 F150 with the Powerstroke to the same truck with the 2.7 Ecoboost and you drive 20,000 miles a year you will pay for the added cost of the Diesel engine in 333 years! Who says it doesn’t pay?!!
Seems more diesels are being added all the time by the manufacturers. FCA, Chevrolet and now Ford in their 1/2 tons. They never existed before, Diesels in 1/2 tons.
