Wholesale warranties Vs. Good Sam or Other?

Hello!!

We have just put our deposit down on a Dutchmen 315 BHDS Trailer (2014, used). We have yet to do the PDI and sign anything, so I wanted to ask some questions about warranties. The Dealer naturally is offering a warranty for the unit. It's a good Sam warranty, and i had also looked at a Wholesale Warranty extended service plan which is less expensive - it's really hard to compare them as there is so much information and trying to decide between them is very difficult. Not to mention, I don't know if there is another one out there with a better reputation. I haven't heard a lot of GOOD things about the good sam plan, but have heard bad. I have heard a few good things about Wholesale warranties (Viking Protection plan) but haven't heard anything bad (which may just mean they're not as popular too)

anyone have any insight on these plans or their experiences with them or other plans?

thank you!

  • bobndots comment is funny!Consumer Reports say they are worth as much as the paper they are written on.
  • I purchased 4 year warranty and purchase price coverage on 3 year old TT. It was more than adding it to my auto coverage but it only covered the depreciated valve.

I told the agent, if I had managed not to drive into a tree or off a cliff in four years; I would switch to the cheaper insurance.

We self insure. How much is the dealer asking for this plan? Put that amount in the bank and keep adding $50 a month to it. pretty soon you will have a nice nest egg and can pay for it your self. Scary for the first couple of years. We figured out if we can't pay to fix it maybe we should not have bought it to start with.

    x2 , since we started in 1988.

We call it the warranty money that should have belonged to various salesmen across the country. ;)
  • Keep your money! Most of your appliances likely still have a factory warranty at 1 year old.
  • We had one on our first trailer. Coverage was very limited, like on the A/C, refrigerator, heater and power center. Didn't cover floors, the roof, or any other non-electrical stuff. Check what it covers before you sign.
  • The guys (and gals) at Wholesale Warranties are a really nice group. No hard sell, no pressure, they just give you a few choices and offer suggestions on products. After they sale they act as agents (they did for me) helping with filing the claim, helping when the claim was questioned, then check in regularly to make sure the claim was processed and repaired to my satisfaction. I could not ask for better service. I've met many of the group at FMCA Rallies. You should at least give them a call.
    JMHO
ps:I have no connection or interest in WW. I just appreciated their service.
  • Go with Good Sam, but check direct with them, it may be a lot cheaper.

  • As you see no one is weighing in.
That is because except in rare cases the warranties help the dealer make more money and/or the warranty company make money.
Most here feel they are no good. so comparing them is pointless
Occasionally someone makes out with one and the myth continues but generally the companies make more than they pay out.
remember some components have a longer warranty from the manufacturer notably the fridge
